In 1960, the St. Moritz began its partnership with Whiteface Mountain to offer the first ski packages in Lake Placid. The ski-and-stay weekend the town runs on now started here.
Whiteface is roughly twenty-five minutes from the door: three peaks, more than ninety trails, and runs from beginner slopes to Olympic downhill. During ski season, the free Mountain Valley Shuttle runs along Route 86, connecting Lake Placid to the slopes. Back at the hotel, the fireplace in the lobby and a porch to watch the snow from.
